College students in Kocaeli of Turkey taken into custody for saying 'no' to new constitution

Police in Turkey continues using force against people who try declaring their stand against the proposed new constitution in public.

As both supporters and opponents of the controversial new constitution hold public meetings or demonstrations to state their stand on the proposal, ‘no’ voters have been targeted openly by not only ‘yes’ voters but also by government officials – including the president – and security forces.

Students of Kocaeli University who gathered in front of their campus today (February 13) to read out their statement in opposition to the new constitution have been dispersed by riot police violently.

According to reports, around 10 students have been taken into custody during the demonstration which was also supported by academics of the university who have been dismissed from their positions with the order of emergency decrees passed by the Council of Ministers.
