Kılıçdaroğlu: ‘Impositions about Gezi are no different than coup attempt’
Following the coup attempt of July 15, with the invitation of President Erdoğan, CHP Chair Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu attended a meeting at the Presidential Palace along with MHP Chair Devlet Bahçeli and PM Binali Yıldırım. Regarding the current dialogues, Kılıçdaroğlu said, “We have made progress in terms of softening the tensions with President Erdoğan’s latest messages. We hope it continues to be this way.”
Answering questions of Hakan Çelenk, from Posta newspaper, Kılıçdaroğlu made the following statements:
- ‘We want the positive atmosphere in politics to continue’
- ‘We will give effort for the continuation of softening’
- ‘The society had been seriously polarized. It was tense. Nobody was listening to anyone. It’s really great that this is eased down a little.’
- ‘Self-criticism of political parties after the coup attempt would enable the tension to be lessened. And, that would be good.’
- ‘We have made progress in terms of softening the tensions with President Erdoğan’s latest messages. We hope it continues to be this way.’
- ‘If impositions about Gezi Park continues, those imposing this would be no different than the coup attempters. The idea of building Artillery Barracks at Gezi Park in Taksim must be forgotten about!’
