Pro-AKP columnist in Turkey claims police will block Justice March near İstanbul

A columnist who writes for Turkey’s pro-government journal Aktüel, Ersoy Dede, has claimed in his latest piece that the Justice March which was started by the main opposition leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu ‘may be blocked’ when the crowd finally reaches İstanbul.

The march, which has by now been participated by tens of thousands and supported by groups and individuals from various fields of life, was started in Ankara by Kılıçdaroğlu in reaction to the arrest and sentencing of CHP MP Enis Berberoğlu and it is planned to end in Maltepe district of İstanbul, where the MP Berberoğlu is held in detention.

Claiming that the march is not under the control of the CHP chair Kılıçdaroğlu, pro-government columnist Dede said: “As the crowd comes closer to İstanbul, it will be seen much more visibly how certain organizations will have control over the initiative. And, the picture that will come about at that point will be something that Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu himself will never want or be pleased about.”

Calling the Gezi Park Protests - one of the most massive peaceful demonstrations in Turkey’s history – a ‘fascist attempt’, Dede gave a threatening warning that ‘no such thing will ever happen in Turkey again’ since the state will immediately interfere if intelligence suggesting such possibility is received.

Asserting that the participants of the Justice March might not even have a chance to enter İstanbul, Dede called on the opposition members and said: ‘What are you going to do at that point (when police stops you)? Are you going to clash with the security forces? You’d end up looking towards Maltepe prison and gape.’
